Where do I start? CB? HAM?

Apologize for the delay I’ve been out of town.
Personally, I think CB radio is archaic. Only truckers use it really and it doesn’t even have FM capabilities.
If you have only your family and a small group of friends I believe GMRS is the easiest route to start. No tests, all the channels are pre-set and all GMRS radios are compatible. You can easily buy rugged and waterproof GMRS radios from Woxun and others.
Ham is more challenging technically but gives you exponentially more options for communication, namely range.
