Do you have any ARs (or other firearms) you use for steel ammo, or as beaters?

<div>Playing around with my Stag Arms .308. One of the things I like about
this one is this is primarily a steel shooting .308. By that I mean I
shoot cheap steel ammo out of it. Don’t hate me, but its the only way I
can afford to shoot .308. Stag has a lifetime warranty on the barrel,
so if and when I shoot it out, I’ll just get it replaced. Playing around with my Stag Arms .308. One of the things I like about this one is this is primarily a steel shooting .308. I’ve got a Daewoo DR200 hybrid that never stops! My Tactical Solutions 22LR build has yet to be cleaned in 12 years and is running smoothly, somehow.

I have shot steel out of my lone AR, it’s a basic Spike’s Tactical that I rarely clean. I’d shoot it more, but the wife doesn’t want to shoot it due to its weight. It has a quad rail on it, and so it’s “too heavy” for her. So if I bring it, she just sits and watches instead of shooting – and that’s no fun for her! Steel ammo might be a little harder on the components, that’s okay. But if I do shoot steel, I have to drive to an outdoor range about 45 minutes away and pay $$$ to do so. So there’s no cost savings for me. I have to shoot brass at the indoor range where we’re members.

If your wife doesn’t like the weight of that AR send me a PM. I have a pencil barrel in stock and I have built those before for ladies to lighten up the front of the weapon and make it easier to wield. Here is a link to the last one I did.

Here are some pictures of it.

Thats rough, if you were a neighbor I would swap the rail out for you, its typically an easy job. Thankfully I’m on enough property to have 2 steel ranges, and I’m working on a Hogans Alley with steel as well. I don’t think I could ever go back to shooting on public ranges, there are just too many idiots (and their unsupervised children).

I simple optic might be a cheap bipod, that way the weight wouldn’t matter.

My Iwi galil ace in 308 loves the 150 grain Tula shoots sub moa out to 600 yards with it . It hates my 168 match handloads so I shoot almost exclusively that in it .

These are my beaters. The AR has a dpms lower, and I don’t even know what the upper is.
