Group Description
I am a firearm enthusiast that spends as much of my free time as possible on the range (with either a firearm or a camera in hand). My passion for firearms met my passion for photography and 2 Alpha Firearm Photography was born. My pictures are very “raw” – I don’t do much in the way of altering them. A little cropping or straightening is about it. If I’m feeling really creative switching color to black and white. I’m thinking about learning more about photoshop this year, but we’ll see.
My goal is simple – promote firearm sports and make it as common as hockey, baseball or football. I want to show the “people” side of the firearm community. One of the things I hear commonly is, “I don’t have any pictures of me shooting!” ~ well, problem solved when I’m around. I’m happy to oblige! My favourite shots – are muzzle blast, but smoke and shell casings are big too!
I grew up around firearms. My Dad taught Hunter Safety (in Canada) and I would sit in on his classes and help him with set up/take down. After my Dad passed away as a way to honor him I took my PAL/RPAL in Canada and got my Hunter Safety Course scores reinstated. I was hooked! Since then I’ve taken my Black Badge in Canada, got my conceal carry in NY and subsequently South Carolina and took the Hunter Safety Course in the US. I’ve gone to Front Sight (when I existed), did the NRA Home Course, took training at Universal Shooting Academy and completed the NROI Range Officer course. I am truly passionate about firearms and firearm safety.
I’m not a serious contender when it comes to competing but I do compete on occasion in USPSA, Steel Challenge, IPSC, Action Steel, IDPA and Trap/Skeet.
